Why Storm Damage Hides Up High

After a hailstorm or a night of high wind, most roofs look about the same from the driveway as they did the day before. The trouble usually sits higher up: dark spots where hail knocked the granules loose, shingle tabs that were lifted and creased by a gust and no longer seal, nail heads backed out, dented vents and bent drip edge. Left alone, those small injuries let water work under the shingles a little more with every rain. Our storm inspection walks each slope, checks the soft metals like vents, gutters and flashing for hail marks, and looks in the attic for fresh staining. Every bit of damage is photographed and labeled, which gives you a clear record whether you decide to repair a section yourself, file an insurance claim or replace the roof. Tree damage is less common, but when a fallen limb has punctured or cracked part of the roof, we document that the same way. Then we tell you plainly which option makes sense, and we do the work with the yard protected and the nails swept.

What a Storm Damage Visit Covers

We look for every kind of damage a storm leaves behind, not just the shingles that blew into the yard.

  • Hail bruise check

Shingles examined for soft spots, missing granules and cracked mats across each slope.

  • Wind damage check

Creased, lifted and missing tabs found, along with nails that have backed out.

  • Soft metal review

Vents, gutters, drip edge and flashing checked for dents that confirm hail size and direction.

  • Attic look

Decking and insulation checked from inside for fresh water stains.

  • Labeled photos

Every finding photographed and noted so the record is easy to follow later.

  • Fallen limb damage

Less common, but punctures and cracked decking from branches documented and repaired too.

  • Repair or replace advice

A straight answer on whether a repair will hold or the roof needs replacing.

From Storm to Sound Roof

  1. Call after the storm

Tell us what you saw or heard, and we set a daylight inspection as soon as the schedule allows.

  2. Inspect and document

We check the roof, soft metals and attic, then go through the labeled photos with you and explain what the storm did.

  3. Repair or move to a claim

Small damage gets repaired on a written quote. Wider damage is packaged for an insurance claim, and the work follows once you decide.

Careful Storm Work, Start to Finish

  • Documented before touched

Damage is photographed before any repair, so the evidence is never lost to a quick fix.

  • Careful on a damaged roof

Storm-weakened shingles and decking call for extra caution, and our crew treats every step that way.

  • Honest scope

If a few shingles and a vent are all that is needed, that is all we quote.

  • Labeled damage photos
  • Soft metals checked
  • Attic inspected
  • Plain repair advice
